The SLTF has held separate meetings with the executives of various student bodies, including the University Students Association of Ghana (USAG), the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS), and the Private University Students Association of Ghana (PUSAG).
The meetings took place in the weeks preceding the launch of the No Guarantor Students Loan Policy. All the meetings which were chaired by the CEO of the SLTF, Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah, were used to brief student leadership on the recently implemented online application system. Student leadership were also briefed on the No Guarantor policy and its potential to create access to financial aid for a lot more tertiary students. The Fund also outlined the strategies that have been put in place to ensure that the new policy does not negatively impact the recovery efforts of the Fund.
The meetings were attended by the Head of Disbursement Directorate, Mr. Kofi Abbew Nkrumah, Head of Finance & Administration Directorate, Mr. Justice Sarkodie, Head of Public Relations Mr. George Ferguson Laing, and the Senior Assistant Public Relations Officer, Miss Estella Bortey.
Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah, said that the engagements with student leadership are critical since students are the most important stakeholder of the SLTF. He said that the SLTF wishes for the student leaders to have accurate information on the ‘No Guarantor’ policy and the process involved in accessing the loan to enable them create awareness among the wider students student population.
The student leadership teams were led by Dennis Appiah Larbi Ampofo (NUGS President), Christian Philip Armah (USAG President), and Shamsu Alhassan (PUSAG President).
