Welcome Address by Mrs. Sheila Naah Boamah, Chief Executive Officer Students Loan Trust Fund at the Official Launch of the Students Loan Trust Fund Scheme Of Service.

Mr. Chairman, Hon. Deputy Minister in charge of Tertiary Education, Members of the SLTF Board of Trustees, Representatives from the PSC, Management and staff present, Distinguished ladies and gentlemen, Good morning.
I deem it a great honor to welcome you all to the official launch of the Students Loan Trust Fund’s Scheme of Service. Thank you all for making the time to join us.

I am happy this day has finally come and happier to be the one at the forefront of the institution when this long travelled task has materialized. The journey to having a Scheme of Service started many years ago with several levels of consultations and long hours of work on what form and shape it should take.

Today, we can all pat ourselves on the back in recognition of realizing this very important milestone. This achievement is only the beginning, but it is a very important beginning, hence the need for it to be officially launched.

Today’s employees expect to find meaning and direction in their day-to-day work – not just jobs and tasks, but meaningful careers and career goals.

Employees who have access to career development processes, resources, and tools feel much more engaged and supported in their respective organization.

In addition, employees who drive their own development are far more likely to be motivated and optimally productive. I agree that a Scheme of Services for the Students Loan Trust fund will not offer solutions to every employee issue but it will certainly satisfy a very decisive human resource requirement.
This Scheme of Service will offer to personnel who demonstrate a strong interest in developing careers with the Fund a roadmap on available career options. It will also offer HR the opportunity to design customized training and development programs that will enhance existing skill sets, and where applicable support the learning of new skills.

Mr. Chairman, distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen, the next stage for us is to ensure the successful implementation of the document . I am under no illusion that its Implementation will be easy but I am optimistic that having come this far we will not fail. Once we get this right, it will help reduce or halt the loss of highly skilled and dedicated manpower at the Fund. It will also position the Trust Fund to attract when necessary, the finest manpower available on the market.

I wish to assure all personnel at the Fund that just like, the Board, management and the Public Service Commission have worked together to arrive at this document, we will continue to leverage on the existing good teamwork to ensure success in its implementation.

On this special occasion, I wish to thank God almighty for granting us strength and good health to witness this day.I thank the Hon Deputy Minister In Charge of Tertiary Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa for his leadership and guidance. I thank the Team from Public Service Commission for providing direction and ensuring conformity, I thank Board members, both past and present for their dedication and support. and I thank management and staff for their commitment to duty. My list is tall but to everyone I could not mention please note that today I stand on behalf of all the employees at the Students Loan Trust Fund to say a big Thank you.

Mr. Chairman, Hon Deputy Minister, Distinguished Ladies and Gentlemen welcome once again and enjoy the rest of the day’s activities.
