A five-member delegation from Bayelsa State Higher Education Students Loan Board of Nigeria (BYSHELB), has paid a working visit to Ghana to understudy operations of the Students Loan Trust Fund.
“We are here to understudy the procedures you employ in the processing, disbursing, monitoring, and recovery of your loans” said Dr. Michael Amaegberi, the Executive Secretary of BYSHELB. Other members of the team included the Director of Administration, the Loan Processing & Recovery Officer and the Credit Consultant to the Board.
During their visit, they received briefings from members of the SLTF Management Team on disbursement processes, the IT infrastructure of the Fund, monitoring and loan recovery modalities.
As part of the study tour, the team also visited some key partners of the SLTF including the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), the Ghana Interbank Payment and Settlements Systems (GhIPSS) the Ministry of Education and two tertiary institutions.
The CEO of the SLTF, Nana Kwaku Agyei Yeboah said that his outfit always welcomes opportunities for experience sharing with comparable organizations on the continent. “We have been doing a lot to improve our operations and enhance the customer experience, migrating to the No guarantor option, and introducing electronic payment platforms for greater convenience”.
The CEO assured them of SLTF’s support in their operations and subsequently invited the (BYSHELB) to join AAHEFA. He encouraged them to be the pioneers in blazing the trail when the federal state of Nigeria decides to set up a students’ loan scheme.
