Teacher Trainees Receive 2023/2024 Allowance Arrears

The Students Loan Trust Fund (SLTF) has successfully disbursed the long-awaited teacher training allowance arrears for the 2023/2024 academic year, bringing relief to thousands of teacher trainees across Ghana. This recent payment follows a promise made by Acting Chief Executive of SLTF, Dr. Saajida Shiraz, at an event organized by the Teacher Trainees Association of Ghana (TTAG) at the Presbyterian Women’s College of Education in Aburi.

Dr. Saajida Shiraz stated, “The Students Loan Trust Fund has received funds from the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission for the payment of outstanding teacher trainee allowances for the 2023/24 academic year. Consequently, we will in the coming week disburse teacher trainee allowances to 65,685 students across 46 Public Colleges of Education in Ghana.” The disbursement was completed as promised, clearing three months’ worth of teacher trainee arrears for the 2023/2024 academic year .

This payment is part of the SLTF’s recent efforts to clear outstanding allowances and loans. Dr. Shiraz, who assumed office earlier this year, has pledged to prioritize timely financial support for students in furtherance of the President’s reset agenda. Under her stewardship, the SLTF has renewed its commitment to providing timely financial support services for the benefit of eligible tertiary students in Ghana.
